2025 Worship Theme:
The Parables of Luke
Tradition has long held that the evangelist Luke was a physician. However, given what we find in the gospel of Luke and its sequel, the Acts of the Apostles, Luke was also a highly gifted writer. By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Luke presented some of the most memorable stories in all of scripture, such as the Annunciation, Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, the story of Zacchaeus, the road to Emmaus, Pentecost, the Jerusalem Council, and Paul’s shipwreck. But in Luke’s gospel we also find several of Jesus’ best-known parables—stories that despite their renown are found nowhere else in scripture. At Symposium 2025, our services and sermons at the five plenary worship services will focus on some of these beloved parables Jesus uses to teach us so much about the kingdom of God and the grace that saves us.
